From big hills to nice beaches, from soaring seacliffs to nice lakes - the scenery in Wales is spectacular. Wales - a part of UK (Great Britain and Northern Ireland), a country of contrasts. On the one hand you have soaring seacliffs and big waves, on the other you have the beautiful mountains and nice lakes. But the beautiful nature isn't all that the country with 20768 square kilometres has to offer. It has also got an interesting culture and history! But the first thing which you'll see in Wales is that they've got their own language. For example the second word in the headline - it is the Welsh word for Wales. In earlier days Wales produced most of the world's coal and slate. The remains of those industries can still be seen in many "living history" museums. Wales has got about 3 mio. inhabitants, and Cardiff, the capital, about 320.000 - by the way, it is twinned with Stuttgart. Today about 1.800.000 people are living near the mountain railway in the south, where they work, too. In Wales you can do nearly all outdoor activities because of the nice nature. For fishing there are many nice lakes and rivers, for jogging, fishing or camping there are wide green meadows and the mountains are good for climbing or para-gliding. But let's come back to the most interesting part of Wales - the historical buildings and attractions! (Please don't be surprised because of the strange names - most of them are in Welsh.)
In general Walse is one of the most beautiful places on the earth. If you are searching for a good place for holiday Wales is the place to go to. Martin Grünenwald, Max Schöffel |
